Session Description
We are excited to partner with Grand Haven Public Schools to offer our Art. You. Powerful. program to its students over the summer break! Art. You. Powerful provides students with a unique experience of self-exploration and self-discovery by providing a truly open and creative space in which students are free to explore.
Each week is guided by a central theme depending on the age of the students:
Grades 1-2: Strength
Grades 3-4: Joy and excitement
Grades 5-6: Purpose
Grades 7-8: Who we become for ourselves and others
These themes are explored throughout the week by immersing students in as many aspects of the creative process as possible. Mindfulness practices, movement, reflection, storytelling, play, writing, painting, sculpture, drawing, and immersion into the natural world are all used to encourage exploration and self-expression.
Over the course of the week students will become powerful, mindful creators, using multiple languages to express themselves. They will not only see their own power held inside, but also their collective power as a group.
