'Entanglement' creates a space for authentic self-expression where the impact of our behavior is instantaneously felt.
We are more than just connected – we are entangled.
Unlike connection, which implies that two objects act on each other because they are spatially together, entanglement implies that two objects act on each other in spite of being spatially apart. When objects are entangled, the properties of the objects are interdependent even if the objects are far away; in essence, there is no separation between them.
The art installation 'Entanglement' invites people to experience Entanglement-at-Large, first described in the book Consciousness by Bernhard Kutzler. Entanglement-at-Large is the perspective that everything in the universe is entangled. There is no separateness. Everything we do instantaneously impacts everything and everyone else.

The immersive installation consists of three main components: a geodesic dome, lasers, and sound. Inspired by the dome-like structure of the first photograph of quantum entanglement (above), the geodesic dome suggests entanglement as each piece of the dome affects and is affected by the others.
Stepping into the dome, you are immersed in over 80 laser beams bouncing off 145 vertices. The lasers are coupled to motion sensors, such that when a laser beam is interrupted by your movement, a sound is triggered and a different laser beam, located elsewhere in the dome, changes color.
As you move around inside the dome, your movements instantaneously trigger sound and color changes that affect other people, and their actions inside the dome similarly affect you. Suddenly everyone is simultaneously affecting everyone else - as if there were no separation between us.
Because nothing like 'Entanglement' has ever been created and no one has ever had the experience of 'Entanglement' before, there is no prescribed way for how to behave in the dome. As you move around the dome it becomes clear that the more authentically you behave in the space - the more yourself you are - the more delightful and exhilarating the experience is for everyone.
This mirrors The Epicenter's work. The Epicenter empowers people. We create open spaces where people can behave authentically, and in the process come to a deeper understanding of who they are. 'Entanglement' is one of those spaces.
The behavior of each group in the dome will change the exhibit for the next group, as each group alters the lighting and sound arrangements. This also reflects entanglement: the history and impact of our actions remain even in our absence.
