Session Description
Over the course of two weeks we will work together in small groups to build confidence and connection through creative self-expression.
Each session is guided by a theme. The theme is explored through conversation and art, which can be anything - dance, music, painting, sculpting, writing, etc. Supplies are provided so that students can choose their art form freely. Themes for younger students include strength, fear, excitement, and curiosity; themes for older students include belonging, trust, stress/anxiety, and creativity.
Classes are grouped by age: 1st & 2nd grade; 3rd & 4th grade; 5th & 6th grade; 7th & 8th grade; and high school.
Classes will take place at your child's school on Monday-Thursday at the following times:
Transportation is available to those who need it. To experience the full benefit of this class, it is recommended to attend 7 of the 8 sessions. If your child is unable to commit to the current session at their school, but would like to participate in the future, please check 'I would be interested in a future session' on the registration form.
Parents/guardians are invited to attend a Zoom call with class instructors on the Sunday prior to the start of the session from 8:30 - 9pm. In addition, instructors are available to answer any questions before, during, and after the session.
Allison Paradise and Connor Maliesky of The Epicenter are instructing the session in partnership with GHAPS. They bring experience in neuroscience, engineering, art, and music.
More information, including the specific curriculum for your child and a 'What to Expect' document, will be emailed to you prior to the start of the session. The email will come from [email protected]. Please be sure to add this email address to your 'approved senders' list and/or check your spam folder. Instructors regularly communicate via email throughout the class.
This unique program is a collaboration between The Epicenter and GHAPS. It is offered at no cost to students and their families.
