Overview
Throughout the week, students will be immersed in as many aspects of the creative process as possible. Although each session focuses on a different theme, all classes incorporate mindfulness practices, movement, reflection, storytelling, play, writing, painting, sculpture, drawing, music, and immersion in nature to encourage exploration and self-expression. Students have agency over what they create and are encouraged to use their imagination to go beyond what they think is possible.
By the end of the week, students will have become powerful, mindful creators, able to use multiple languages to express themselves. They will not only experience their own inner power, they'll also experience their collective power as a group.
Session themes are:
Session 1: Creativity. We will explore what it means to be creative.
Session 2: Storytelling. We will explore the stories we tell ourselves and how those narratives impact our experience. We'll also explore how our passions and interests influence our artwork and the stories we create.
Session 3: Awareness. We will intentionally bring awareness to the creative process, including our artwork, actions, speech, and movement.
Session 4: Teamwork. We will explore how to be ourselves in a group, what it means to compete, and how we can be supportive of ourselves and others. Note, this session will involve more physical activity than most.
